DESIGN ASSISTANT

Job Description

Courtney and Company Design is seeking a full time Design Assistant. This Design Assistant will work closely with lead designers throughout the life of a project. The success of our work is largely dependent on the design assistant’s ability to problem solve and collaborate, eagerness to learn and create, and their attention to detail.

 

Design Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Pick up and drop off tile, fabric samples, and other materials as needed
  • Run design related errands
  • Office phone support
  • Manage office calendar and schedule meetings as needed with administrative assistant
  • Organize Mood Boards (both physical and digital) for presentations
  • Organize and set up conference table for client presentations
  • Assist with selections, research, and ordering samples
  • Build project budgets
  • Build and maintain finish schedules and client packages
  • Maintain project records, update systems and notes accordingly
  • Draft and update furniture plans in CAD
  • Process and track merchandise orders through Studio Designer and communicate details to bookkeeper and designers
  • Multitask – Design Assistants often work on 10-15 projects at a time
  • Communicate directly with vendors, artisans, architects, contractors, and builders
  • Communicate details and project status updates to clients as directed by designer
  • Quote and send proposals to clients
  • Print floor plans
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of office and sample library
  • Assist with project installations – design assistants will often have to lift and move heavy items (mirrors, artwork, small furniture, etc.)
  • Perform moderate furniture and accessory assembly
  • Protect client and company confidentiality
  • Work collaboratively and with flexibility with team members
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
  • Approach all work with a positive, professional attitude

 

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Design preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in luxury/high end Hospitality, Retail, or similar Customer Service field preferred
  • Interior Design related internship experience is a plus
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD program required – duties will include furniture plan manipulation and light drafting
  • Experience with Studio Designer is preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Drop Box, and Keynote
